  Edgar Rubio    

Camp Director

Mr. Rubio has been a band  director in Broward County for 30 years. For the past 22 years, he has dedicated his career to building a superior rated band program at Silver Trail M.S. In addition, he has served as an adjudicator with the Florida Bandmasters Association as well as conducted honor bands throughout the State of Florida during the last ten years.  Mr. Rubio earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Florida State University followed by a Master's Degree in Educational Technology Applications from Barry University. As a performer, he has played with The Temptations, Walt Disney on Ice, Ray Ruiz, Oro Solido, Black Janet and the Wringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus.

Jordan Sawyer

Beginning Band

"Mr. Sawyer is a product of the Broward County, having attended New River Middle School, South Plantation High School, and earning a Music Education A.A. from Broward College and is a graduate of the Florida Atlantic University. 

Mr. Sawyer has worked with Middle and High School band programs throughout the county since he graduate high school and has worked extensively with the Coral Glades, Coral Springs, and Cooper City High School Marching Band programs. 

Prior to his arrival at WCY, Mr. Sawyer served as the interim Director as Westglades Middle School and Forest Glen Middle School, becoming the full-time director at Forest Glen shortly after. There, he taught for four years and his bands consistently received superior ratings at Music Performance Assements and sat students in the Broward All County Band and Florida All State Band. While at Forest Glen Middle School, Mr. Sawyer was nominated three times for Teacher of the Year and a Teaching Grammy. 

After teaching at Forest Glen, Mr. Sawyer spent two years in Jacksonville as the Director at Kernan Middle School. He established a band after 10 years of little to no instruction and built a full size, 200+ member program during his time there."

   Rick Morales   

Percussion

Originally from New York City, Mr. Morales is currently living in Palm Beach county where he works as a  percussion clinician in many of the district's middle and high schools. In addition, Mr. Morales maintains a very active private lesson studio.  During his 30 plus years career, Mr. Morales has instructed some of the premier drum lines of the drum corp world as well as performed all over the United States.  He is a dedicated professional that uses a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills and the love of music to aide students in the development of their musical skills.
