Beginning Band
Learn to play the saxophone, the trumpet, drums or any other instrument? At BSMA students in 3th - 9th grade can learn to play any of the following instruments:
- flute
- clarinet
- saxophone
- oboe
- bassoon
- trumpet
- French Horn
- trombone
- baritone
- tuba
- percussion
This camp is designed for students with no experience or learning a secondary instrument. Instrument will be provided for the duration of the camp.
Intermediate & Advanced Band
Students who have one year of playing experience in their middle school band will be in the intermediate camp and students with two or more years of middle school band experience will be in the advanced camp. Both groups will work in large ensemble and small ensembles with some of the areas finest professional musicians who will focus on fine tuning their skills as well as preparing them for the next level. Students in this camp will also work on the 2024 Florida All-State audition requirements.
Jazz Band
The program for this camp redefines an avant-garde approach as it includes all band instruments, piano and strings. Students are invited to come and explore the various styles of jazz and experiment with music improvisation. This camp is sure to prepare students for auditions to their respective school’s jazz band. The only requirement is one year of middle school band experience. Students who have played in their middle school jazz band for at least one year will also receive improvisation coaching.
Guitar
The Guitar camp is designed for all levels of experience. Students in this camp will learn to read music and chords. Participation in this camp requires students to have their own guitar. A guitar will not be provided by the camp. This camp is open to all grade levels of the camp.
Drum Line
The Drum Line camp is designed to give students the experience of being in a group just as you would in a marching band drum line. Students do not need to have any prior drumming experience and is open to all ages of the camp.
